Built upon a dual low-voltage Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor architecture, the ADLINK cPCI-6860A is a robust, high-performance 6U CompactPCI single-board computer that is specifically designed for use in demanding, harsh embedded computing environments. The board can utilize CPUs at frequencies of up to 2.4 GHz and supports up to 4 GB of DDR 266 ECC Registered Memory, providing superior data integrity when utilizing this product in highly demanding or critical applications. The ADLINK cPCI-6860A utilizes the Intel(R) E7501 chipset for its core logic and has been engineered to provide reliable and efficient data processing.
In addition to the robust processing performance of the cPCI-6860A, one of the key features of this board is its compliance with the PICMG 2.16 specification for packet-switching backplanes. As such, this board provides a high-throughput method of data communication between slots for networked systems, making it an excellent choice for those systems that require such functionality.
The ADLINK cPCI-6860A is a single-board computer that is designed for use in those areas of industry that require continuous operation, including but not limited to industrial automation, telecommunications and military systems. The ADLINK cPCI-6860A has a wide variety of I/O connections, including four Gigabit Ethernet ports; two are located on the front panel of the board and two are available on an optional Rear Transition Module (RTM). In addition to these high-speed networking capabilities, the cPCI-6860A also has an Ultra-320 SCSI interface on the supporting RTM, which is ideal for high-speed storage requirements. Other onboard interfaces include USB ports, serial ports, and VGA output, which offer an abundance of options for connecting peripherals to the board. The onboard ATI Rage XL graphics controller provides a stable method for displaying system status and monitoring/control information.
The cPCI-6860A has been designed to function in harsh industrial environments and operate over a specified temperature range, along with providing high resistance to shock and vibration. The hardware monitoring functions on this board continuously monitor the overall health of the system. The hardware monitoring functions include the tracking of CPU temperatures, fan speeds, and voltage levels. A programmable watchdog timer is also included to enhance the reliability of the system by allowing the system to automatically recover when it enters into a lock-up condition.
